Good to see you back on here, Joel. I have been working some 5x5 dips/pullups for while now. Good routine that is not destroying my joints...........so far.

The sandbag construction went well, unfortunately it was destructed too quickly. It's great for lifting, but the impacts from throwing it tore the tape and underlying bag. I'm thinking of re-doing it by taping with something a little stronger as a first layer and then gaffer's tape on top (gaffer's tape makes a great surface to hold) or just not throwing it. It can work great for farmer's walk, chest carry, woodchoppers, and general lifting.

If the 50# one works well, I was thinking of taping two of them together for a 100# big bag. For $3.50 a bag it's not too shabby. Gaffer's tape can get a little expensive ($10-$15/ per roll), but I was able to do my 50# bag with about half of a roll of the 2" tape.

The other workout I'm doing on opposite days of the upper body is squats 4x5, deadlifts 4x5, and plank sets. That's an ouchie day.

Dropped down to 115# and it felt a lot better. Still hard reps, but mechanics were much more stable. I'd rather get a little less of a workout than injured and have to take a break because of injury.

Deadlifts 145#
5-5-5-10

Need more weights, 145# is all I have for my bar, and if I'm going for 4x5 it's definitely not hard enough. While I wait to get more weight I'll do the negatives a little slower and keep thepositives explosive.
