I live in Manchester an I am looking to learn Hapkido, I have search many search engines to no avail. Surely someone must teach Hapkido in Manchester.

Let me know if you know of any

Don't say "Oss" when you walk into a Korean Hapkido Dojang....it's a Japanese expression.

Thanks for the Advice, I can't amend it as its part of my signature, I was also told not to where a Black GI when going into a Jujitsu Dojo either, I did grade to 4th Gup in Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan so I hopefully wont be to sore thumbish WHEN I find an Hap Ki Do Dojang

Is this the end of my plight, noone in Manchester UK has a Hapkido Dojang

Have you looked into finding a Japanese Jujitsu school? If you can't find Hapkido, then you would probably find JJJ a very suitable alternative.

thankyou guys for you help, Unfortunately JJJ isn't what I am looking for, I have tried Atemi Kempo Jujitsu and this didn't seem to fit the 'bill', Hapkido is where I wanna be, this is a complete art and understands the ethos of balance when striking unlike in some arts

Don't give up! I'm from NI, and I know first hand that there is a derth of Hapkido in UK & Ireland.

I know it may not exactly be local, but would it be tricky for you to get to Skelmersdale? There is a Kuk Sool Won class on there.

Would you be so kind to answer some questions about what Atemi kempo jujtsu is like?

Is this style japanese, okinawan, both japanese and chinese or both japanese and okinawen?

What kind of combt does it emphasize? Does it prefer striking over grapppling, bone breaking, vital point or pressure point striking?

What is a typical response to an attack? For instance a typical bjj response to an attack is to block the attack then step forward and smother the assialant with their own body to get the clinch, and eventually either a submission or a throw to the ground where they go into ground grappling.

A kempo/kenpo person would usually block an attack and follow through with several strikes of his own, breaking the attack down and following through with a submission or a take down.

My questions are rather vague and they tend to stereo type the arts, but I feel when describing one art to a person that you can ctegorize them, even though every art has a common techniques. For instance is someone where to ask me what does TKD emphasize, I would say kicks. If they asked me what is kenpo like, I would say rapid hand attacks, if they would ask me what bjj emphasize I would say ground grappling, what does judo emphaize I would say sweeps an throws, whats aiki jutsu emphasize I would say bone breaking what does small circle jujutsu empahsize I wold say small joint maniupulation, vital point strikiing. While some other clasical style of jujutsu might say bone breaking and pressure poin striking. Get it?
