Hopefully it'll add to the lexicon of Rocky quoteables. Some past classics

Reporter "What is your prediction for the fight Clubber?
Clubber "Pain!"

Clubber Lang on his rematch with Rocky in Rocky III

"That ain't so bad champ, you ain't so bad!"

Rocky's response to Clubbers power punches in said rematch.

"....The Count of MonteFisto...."

Ring announcer annoucing Apollo Creed in Rocky IV

" Gimme one more round!"

The irrpressible Micky, Rocky's trainer, said to Rocky pretty much every time he seen him.

What about:

"Were gonna make you eat lightening and cr4p thunder."
Micky on Rocky's fight preparation.

I think it was in Rocky 2.

Did anyone else hear about what Sly did a few years ago? Apparently he was in a hotel when the fire alarm went off and he ran out the door knocking over two pensioner women!

Stallone is the man. 60 years old and still cranking it out. You have to know he trained hard for this movie and to look that good.

I grew up in the era of Rocky. When the first movie was released in 1976 to be honest I wasn't really interested. When Rocky II was released in 1979 I still wasn't interested. When Rocky III was released in 1982 I still wasn't very interested. Then Rocky IV came out in 1985 when I was in grade 12 and all of my friends went to the movies and half of us seen Clue and the other have seen Rocky IV. I saw Clue and when the rest came out of Rocky IV all hyped I knew I had to see it. So I borrowed the first three movies from my Dad's friend and watched them one after the other ... I was hooked. I then went and seen Rocky IV and I could not believe I waited this long to see these movies. I took my wife (then girlfriend) to Rocky V in 1990 ... though it wasn't a block buster but I still liked it none the less. And now Rocky VI (aka Rocky Balboa) ... I am there.

Sly ... you rock dude. If anybody I'd want to look up to for what he has done in life it would be this guy. With all of the hard work to sell his first movie Rocky and to believe it in and want to star in it ... not to mention the incredible shape he has gotten into for so many movies, especially being 60 now ... props dude, number 1 in my book. I think I have seen "almost" every movie he has been in ... even before I knew who he was with the first being Death Race 2000 back in 1975 at the Drive-In. Can't wait for this movie.

Machine gun Joe Veturbo

First film i saw him in was First blood, it was on telly in our motel room on holiday in Florida when I was 9. My parents have always been cool about me watching violent movies, and we all sat there, (full of pizza hut as i recall), and watched it. I had never seen anything like it, and that night was the night I decided to lift weights when i was old enough. Sly changed my life.

Ita not just the training though. Stallone actually wrote Rocky and came up with the character too. He did everything and so well. The character himself Rocky is a fantastic character, well rounded and real, with great development. I like the training, he probably made up too, hitting the meat, crunches with the slaps (nicely done in the Rocky computer game, you have to tense at the right time), the log, and the great training in Rockys 3 (changing style) and 4 (using alternative equipment).

I loved the first two Rocky films that were more drama like, the others were fantastic too but they lost the drama feel for a 'Rocky is a bada$$ who is going to beat this bad guy up' feel.

Rocky = Boxing.

Boxing = My hobby

My Hobby = Rocky

So, I'm not going to move this. This IS boxing. A lot better than price fights!

Long live Stallone!

I can't believe you guys are actually supporting Rocky 6. This movie is going to be pathetic. The storyline is pathetic. The "rocky" guys need to know when to throw in the towel.

This movie is a giant snoozefest. They've taken the whole underdog theme way too far this time. This time, it's not about a young Rocky Balboa as the underdog against a young Russian goliath.

This time it's about a 60 year old Rocky Balboa fighting someone at least 30 years younger than he is on the pro stage.

Hm. I have my doubts.

I think you are missing the point Mudo, this Rocky is the 'true' sequel to the first two movies in regards to mood and concept.
Rocky 1 was about a journeyman club fighter who was already past his prime getting an incredible chance based on his name alone. He didnt want to take the opertunity initialy, he lacked confidence, dedication and focus. He was out of shape, smoking, debt collecting and generaly getting by on a good left hook both in and out of the ring. Stallone's performance in Rocky 1 gained him the reputation as potentialy the next Deniro, so good was it considered.

Rocky 2 was resolutely more feel-good, but kept to the spirit of the first movie. It was noticeable that rocky now didnt smoke, his links to organised crime got diluted, he didnt swear, and Pauley went from a real nasty piece of work to a more comic character.

Rocky's 3 and 4 were completely different in style and content to the first 2 movies. Whilst the finales of 1 and 2 evoked great real fights like Duran vs Hagler, and the rumble in the Jungle, 3 and 4 threw any grasp of realism away with relish, replacing it with superhero levels of punishment. Rocky as a character suffered much the same fate, becoming almost a parody of what he was in the first movie.

Rocky 5 was an attempt to bring things full circle, the trouble was that they didnt know how to do it. rocky as a trainer was never going to work, and the production was too glossy, with execs not having faith in a return to the grit of the first movie. The result was an uncomfortable mish mash that bore a strong resemblance to a made for TV HBO movie, and not a good one at that.

Now,here, in 'Rocky Balboa', we have a world weary warrior, in the wake of his wifes death, just looking for salvation in the only thing he knows. He is an old lion, with no aspirations or illusions as to his ability, yet through another quirk of fate, an opertunity to do more than he could dream presents itself once again. Again he is not in it to win, but to prove he can sustain in the face of what life throws at him.

they have avoided calling it Rocky 6 for a reason. Its a different animal, and i have every confidence that it will be incredible. Stallone does old and weary very well- remember Copland? he was never once outclassed by anyone on screen.

If George Foreman can win a world Title for real at 44 years old, then Rocky can go the distance one more time in my book.

Put that in your doubters pipe and smoke it
