Ok, I saw this book at Waldenbooks the other day with a DVD included...I can't remember who was the author. I think it was about $30. Does anyone know the book I'm talking about?
Incidentally, I looked thru a book about self defense written by the Gracies. Lots of interesting techniques in there.

Thanks Oldman...I may pick up that Gracie self-defense book too. There's a defense against someone armed with a folding chair that might come in handy at sunday school. I know I can get worked up over minor things, but damn it, the literal rendering of that greek word in that passage in Romans was CHARITY, not love! But I digress...

Anyway, I got the book. The DVD is much easier to follow than the photos, for me. Does anyone have his Master Text book?

I too am planning to get that book. So I can practice te basic of bjj. The gracie self defense book is not worth the cost. You can pick up any old jujutsu book with a large variety of techniques which are the same as the Gracie self defense book.
I've looked the book over many times, the techniques are no different that classical jujutsu. In the beggining of the book Royce talks about the difference of Gracie jujutsu and although they place emphasis on ground grappling, it is stil more for sport purposes. The real self defense are more classic techniques.

If you want to get a really goodbok on jujutsu I suggest you buy: -Jujutsu Basic techniques and Jujutsu intermediate techniques by Geaorge Kirby.
-Bruce Tegners, Complete Book Of Jujutsu
-Small Circle Jutjutsu by Professor Wally Jay
These are al great books. Bruce Tegners books demonstrates wazas ad katas. First you learn the basic techniques, then you learn how to use them in sequences along with variations of the techniques.

I guess the jokes on me, I'm still getting the bok though. I've gone over it many times. I am curious about learning the basics of bjj and this book seems very good in it's illustrations and it's text. Plus it comes with that nifty dvd and the books is only goig to cost me $22 at barnes and nobles.
