IF you wanna get to the Olympics thats the stuff you gotta know. DO you have what it takes to be an elite athlete?
No ammount of forms practice will help you with that stuff. Those kicks are the aspect that seperate TKD from shotokan karate.

I love this clip, it's the perfect example of how the elite taekwondo athletes practice for the Olympics. This clip should be forever posted in the TKD forum as reference.

A friend of ours left california to train in florida with those guys a week ago, he'll be there for 3 months, hopefully he makes the national team.

Dereck,

Would you please consider making this thread permanant by locking it?

I think it's a great example of sports taekwondo and a brilliant insight to what the American Taekwondo elite athletes must go through utilizing the 5 tenets of taekwondo in order to get to the Olympics.

The clip shows how the sports side of taekwondo is practiced and how those skills are attained. Now we just need to find a really good clip on how the self defense aspects of taekwondo are practiced. We've seen in this clip only one aspect of taekwondo however, it is the most popular aspect. Please consider my request best wishes,

-Tek

I don't konw what a half round kick is, I just know a round kick is a round kick, you either do it right or your doing it wrong. One generates the most power and the other does not.

This is a good demonstration on how athletes train for Olympic style TKD competition. I wish we could find something on how the other styles train. So we can see the difference.

Still no examples of how different TKD styles train for sparring. Tsk, tsk, tsk...
