Gentlemen,
What in your opinions is the technique that you see used most often to defend against the shoot and potentially submit the person attempting the shoot?

If you want to talk technical let me know how you would deal with such techniques in a MMA’s competition/cage fighting scenario and in a street fight/ pub brawl situation

Those were nice takedowns. From a sd perspective they were close enough to strike to begin with,if that failed I'd sprawl and get away from them.
My karate instructor is quite a good wrestler and I have tried knees, strikes to everywhere, and whatever else you can come up with, but for a shoot the best defense is no doubt a sprawl.

That would mean you would have to get around behind him. Think about it, you can do it standing or on the ground...

Yes, when a sprawl is executed right it isn't hard to get around behind him quickly.Yes,alot of techniques can work either standing or on the ground.

What is he most vunerable to. You see it in the UFC quite often, those guys are fast and skilled but still get caught with it. Standing and on the ground.

Yes! If the shootist does a takedown like a wrestler, big mistake. If the takedown is done right, with the head pressed against the torso, not so much.

If either of these dorks does karate then I'm an international supermodel.

But where would a person ever find an effective technique like that in kata? Especially schoolboy kata?
