Ok Brian interesting photos.
Nothing much to discuss. Except I presume the choking/techniques being taught were competition stuff not self defence right?
Take a discussion to pm ????

Hi adaca,
Yes,the chokes being shown by A BJJ four striped purple belt were for competetion, but just as effective outside of it I believe.
I also got the opportunity to 'roll' with him a few times. We didn't strike at all and I don't think I ever lasted three minutes without tapping. I do believe my 'game' has improved since then though. I'm also much stronger and in better shape than I was then.

oldman,
I like that drawing, nice one! Be sure and let me know when the bubishi is complete, can't wait to add it to my collection.

Hi

The answer to your question might be found if you look for early pro UFC /cage fights.
The ones before gloves.
There is a good karate guy beating a good wrestling guy using a lot of counter takedown techniques. These techniques are all in kata.

Hi Brian

Well how come you guys get all the good flash gyms/dojos?
mats mirrors bet you even have showers.
I have just finished a work out on a hard maki wari in a small garage on a concrete floor.

Who were these "good" guys, and can you post a vid?

The karate/ju jitsu guy was Harold Howard great fighter
It states he beat Royce Gracie.
In my archives, (the fight was a few years ago) I have di ssected a fight where he fought a grappler/ excellent fighter.

Both fought UFC bare knucke. My kinda thing.

This is my opinion.

No videos as such.

How ever in my opinion

(This is a rough description of the technique)

One counter he used against a take down was a sprawl/front guillotine / then a sumigaeshi of sorts lifting the opponent with two legs.

http://www.judoinfo.com/images/animations/blue/sumigaeshi.htm

|He also used a lot of hooks uppercuts and other techniques found in katas(tekki 1,2 ,3 love these katas)

I think like any body else, me included you, might consider training the techniques individualy, once the kata is learned.
Eg train hooks, train uppercuts, the stance, train the throw and counter throw.

I donít know what your knowledge is so I cant comment on your training. Do you practice hooks? You would need to know the katas, in this case very much tekki orientated in my opinion and then take out the techniques and practice them on a bag maki wari and partner work.
