I just played the third incartation of this game on the Xbox 360 and to tell you the truth I was not impressed. Being a strong follower of the fight night series I had high expectations of this title but I was greeted with the same gameplay of the previous game (which, dont get me wrong, is amazing) but at a terribly slow pace. The boxers seemed to move really really slowly, even at the start of round one the boxers seemed to throw as if they were well into round 15 (in the old days), with wide swings and slow straights as well as slower bobbing, weaving and footwork. The haymakers really seemed like very long swings thrown by an amateur. These were introduced in the previous game nicely as slightly wound up hooks and uppercuts that were dangerous counters.
The only new things that I can see in the game, apart from some nice new boxers is of course the novelty of a new more powerful machine able to offer impressive visuals and animations. These do deliver, the boxer models are extremely life like and they way they react is also very life like, it is a very pretty game. The way in which you can see boxers growling into punches and the way the saliva comes out of their mouth with KOs is also very nice.
I dont think theres anything new in this game, making it worth buying if you have fight night round 2. The excitement and pace of the matches has diminished. I think the series will have to make drastic changes after thisgame in order to maintain its popularity its crown as top boxing sim.
