Thinking of going over to the Big Apple Challenge in New York this Sunday.

Anyone else going/competing?

John, Hi pal, are you going to compete or spectate? Just went to a tournament with my son and competed last week. He was warned twice for facial contact and darn near disqualified. It's tough to point spar when you train at an MMA school! Let us know how you do. I don't post much anymore since work is very busy but still cruise.

Hey schanne, how did your son place?

I know the feeling of point sparring, it is harder than people think.

Hmmmm, not very good this year. He won his first fight but lost his second due to hitting his opponent in the face, too many warnings. What is the Urban cup?

We practiced his break for a week but he messed that up too.
Bottom line, he still had fun and I got to see some old buddies......it's just a big old learning curve, he's still just a squirt!

Hey Schanne/GW

I actually hit 50 on Saturday, so entering the competition was my way of refusing to admit that age is a factor.

Entered the 18 - 35 age group black belt kata. Placed 3rd, much to the dismay of younger competitors.

There's life in the old dog yet!!!

Hey John, I'm 40 this year and your story is quite inspiring as I'm starting to feel it a bit more now.
Good to know that there are good times ahead.

Only 3rd though?

Hey, don't blame me if the judges can't recognize pure, undiluted, talent when it's put in front of them!!!
