Taison, has this been added to the kickboxing styles thread, I think it qualifies.

Go read, It was the third style, I think, I wrote about in the kickboxing style thread.

It's a good art but sometimes Dr. Nap tries to put too much "hokus-pokus" into it. I mean, a kick is a kick, no matter how you perform it, it's a kick, right? Well, he says stuff like some of his techniques are 100% better than other arts when, a kick is a kick.

After watching the videos, I have to be honest. The "boxers" do seem a little sloppy and unbalanced. It may be because, they are quite new to the art of fighting within the ring, as they seem to be constantly "parted" by the referee and the tempo of the match is just too fast for both boxers. I think maybe in another 3 years, Yaw-yan may become the deadly art it strives to be.

for the feed back and response.It's a fact that things are bit overhyped in the Yaw-Yan websites.Yaw Yan has been dominating the Kickboxing scene in Philippines for a long time and their fighters are known for defeating a number of other martial arts stylists.This might be the reason why they claims their art to be one of the best.They define Yaw-Yan as arnis without kicks and I remeber reading some where like Yaw-yan fighters are taught to use their arms and foots as arnis sticks and they are heavily conditioned for it.

I was lucky to see some videos of yaw-yan versus yawyan competition which is held in 2002.Even if it's kick boxing match ,the fighters can even attack the fallen down opponent and they are even using knees and elbows on the ground

Yaw-Yan has also got a street fighting style and they are calling it as Yaw-Yan combat.

The Dog Brothers are supposed to be working on something called "Kali-tudo", which is a MMA style based on empty-hand Kali. I imagine it (the stand-up portion, anyway) will be somewhat similar to Yaw-Yan.

I recently picked up the DB's Kali Tudo video - it's not like this, at least not much really. I see way more similarities between Yaw Yan and MT than I do with Kali empty hand or panantukan. But I also think it looks really sloppy compared to MT. The Kali Tudo style is also different in that it uses more of the triangular footwork from the stick and knife training styles. The idea is to always look for the side or back door vs. just bumrushing your opponent. It's cool stuff. Check it out sometime!
