Ok, the problem is when I learnt sanserou (goju ryu kata) I used to have a problem on the punch after the elbow strike, my left shoulder used to almost dislocate.
I no longer have this problem (This was about two years ago) but I was just wandering If you experienced the same?
Like I said I no longer have this problem, maybe over time I coreccted my technique or my shoulder joint strengthened its self to prevent this.

Thoughts?

I had a similar sort of experience when I first started learning a kick with my left leg (the weaker leg), I could hardly do, even keep it in suspended for very long, but now I can keep it up (my leg) for a very long time. Maybe you have just got used to it like you thought, but almost dislocating your arm seems a bit more something.

Are you talking about the punch that crosses the body toward the hip? Try doing it slowly and then speed up until you feel the discomfort. tell your doctor what's going on,it sounds like a previous injury of some sort. It's best to consult a physician.

Yep, thats the one, although I think its actually supposed to be at a fairly flat angle, rather than downwards towards the hip, I suppose it depends on who's teaching you.

By the way its no longer a problem it went away years ago, but I wanted to know if it was a normal experiance.

Another thing, sometimes when I bench, my left hip feels like its going to dislocate. maybe its the pressure from powering from the floor.
