So I'm standing there, and he grabs me by my jacket and trys to push me around. I just simply pushed him away, but why?! When I think back on that event, I say, "I could've done so much at that point!" I don't see how people could think on thier toes like that, though... Its pretty amazing, actually.

I found that in my earlier days of street fighting (more like school fighting), I used to just use instinct, loose all control and let my anger give me focus. Since doing martial arts though I have managed to gain control, change my instinct actions into powerful, precesionate punches, blocks, grapples.

An example of this is when someone grabbed my wrist, I just tried pulling away or something.

Now though, just instinctually, I turn against their thumb, without even thinking about it and so fast.

I believe that once you get to a certain level with your mind, and understand what YOU can do and be able to quickly assess the situation, then my friend, you will be able to think on your toes. Once you can do that... It's pretty amazing.

hmmmmmm.......thinking is wrong in fighting anyway imho. you should train so much that when someone grabs your wrist you "pull to chamber" without thinking. if someone grabs your lapel with both hands you "double outside block" without thinking. you kind of get the jist right? i mean the techiniques don't have to be "pull to chamber" or "double outside block" they could very well be "low punch" or "arm bar/wristlock" i mean really just train to the piont where your techinques actually are instinct."train your instincts my friend".

Plenty of times my friend....

eg. the time when this guy threw a ball at my head (deliberatly) and I decided not to let it go (caught me at a bad time), he stood their talking to me like he was god so I knocked the ball out of his hand to make him look like an idiot (dont think he liked that ), he then grabbed my sleeve, without thinking I put my hand on top of his via inside and thrusted my fist in a downward/outward motion. I guess I kinda did it hard or he just did'nt expect it cause his arm flew behind him and he nearly span round, then some friends of mine ran over to us and started saying stuff like "you trying to start a fight with this guy? I woud'nt try it".

The matter ended and I went on as normal.
