I dont want to cause a stir here but is there anyone here who knows if the youth of Japan is aware of the 'atrocities' it commited during WW2?

This is for my humanities project so if you do know anything please answer, there is noone here who I can ask who can give me a 'qualified' answer so hopfully someone here knows something.
