I used to train with a guy who would sit and eat rice at the dojo at one of those little tables on his knees with copsticks. He would tell chinese proverbs about everything. Some people have really identity issues, or maybe it's a self-esteem problem either way there just ridiculous.
I know what you mean, those guys bugged me too, but then after a while I wondered "What if that's how they really are?" Of course, "trying" is really, really annoying, but then again in their minds maybe they are "trying" to do what they think is "better"
But ya, I understand what you mean. lol at my school (I'm in high school) soooo many people try to "act black". But what does "acting black" realy mean? What does "black mean"??? What does acting any "race" mean? Does saying that mean you're stereotyping (insert ethnicity) when you say they're acting like it?
^ LOL See it gets more complicated, so I just let it be nowadays
P.S. Buddhism started in India, in case people forget, and the original Buddhism was different, for example there were no "gods" like in some East Asian forms. Even Indian Buddhism changed, the most preserved is Sri Lanka because they are a more isolated island.

Probably the one tha annoys me most these days:
"I train purely for self defense."
To anyone who says that, let me give you some advice that will save you a ridiculous amount of time and effort - carry pepper spray. And several times I've even heard something like:
"I train purely for self defense, which is the only reason anyone should train."
Don't dare tell me why I should or should not train.
