Would it be a good idea to pick just 5 or 6 things to eat. And eat nothing but that over and over again. It would help me make better eatting choices. So my question is what would be good to put on the list of 6

No it would be a terrible idea. You would become bored and dissilusioned quickly, and also by narrowing your nutritional scope, you run a greater chance of missing out on essential nutrients, ie. if you choose veg that is consistently low in vit D, then over time you will become defficient in that vitamin.

Vary your diet as much as possible, use herbs and spices to give flavour instead of sauces and salt.

Make sure you have sensinle quantities of carbohydrate (rice, pasta, cereals, potatoes, bread) and adequate amounts of protein (beans, pulses, fish, poultry, lean meat, eggs), reduced fat dairy produce and 5 varied portions of fruit and veg per day.
There is so much good natural food out there, why make life boring?

Thank you for your advice I did not think about missing vitamins in my foods. I take a one a day multivitamin. But I do see your point that the same foods would get boring after a time. I am just going to have to watch what I eat and eat less more often.
Thanks again

...and eat less more often.

That made me laugh! Crazy word play...

I took a 6-week cookery class in lean mean cuisine. It was good as it showed me how to make healthy food more interesting without comprising its benefits.

Agree with the others though, life is too short to limit yourself. Just read up on the pros and cons of the food you eat, make informed choices, and ideally, learn how to cook the food. That will help keep a healthy diet interesting.
