These are 2 different things, bulking up and losing fat for 2 different people so please don't get confused. I just wanted to make sure, what should the diet be in order to attain the goal of bulking, and to lose fat. Also what are some good pre and post workout meals for each goal. Thanks in advance, hope you guys can help me out.

LB, read my response to your complimentary thread on the strength forum. 'Bulking' and 'cutting' are not valid nutritional or training principles.

2grams of protein per kilo of lean body weight will be be sufficient for all your training needs (maintenance and growth) but you could go as high as 3grams if you feel better about it psychologicaly and you have the money.
To know your lean body weight you must have a body composition test, carried out by a professional (home bodystat kits/ shopping mall coin operated gizmo's are not accurate).
As for overall energy intake, it needs to be in balance, the concept of 'bulking and cutting' is just yo-yo dieting whilst training. It doesnt offer a helthy long term solution to your goals.

cord i could be wrong here but i just read a report on protien and it claimed that an average person only needs 0.8 grams(thats the us guide lines some say as low as 0.45 and these body building sights say 1.5) per kilo weight and if you are weight lifting this remains the same as this as your body becomes more efficient at absorbing/processing the protien also i have read that proien overdoss can cause kidny problems so if these reports are right 3grams per kilo is probably not good http://www.annecollins.com/protein-diet.htm http://bodybuilding.about.com/od/nutritionbasics/a/bulkingupdiet.htm http://www.abcbodybuilding.com/magazine/howtoanalysizeyourself2.htm sorry if i misunderstand your statment cord but my understanding is differant

I did stipulate lean body weight. Eating protein in ratio to total bodyweight is no doubt overkill- why attempt to feed body fat with amino acids? pointless. Most people if eating protein in relation to true lean weight as I suggest will not ingest too much protein. Kidney damage from high protein levels tends to happen only in excessive cases. You would be amazed for how long and how hard you have to abuse your bodies renal system for it to give you serious problems. What I have suggested is perfectly healthy and correct.
