JohnL Professional Poster Registered: 03/24/03 Posts: 4304 Loc: NY, NY, USA	Can anyone help. I have been told that some shotokan organizations are now practicing Meikyo Shodan, Nidan, and Sandan. Originally there was only one Meikyo on the Shotokan standard kata list. I am aware that there are 3 Rohai kata, which have a close link to Meikyo, from Shito Ryu. My questions are; 1. Which JKA organization started these kata? 2. If it wasn't a JKA faction, does anyone know who did? 3. Are there any videos available and where? Thanks JohnL

creative Member Registered: 04/26/04 Posts: 399 Loc: UK	I have never heard of these before either. I have though seen 2 different variations of the kata in shotokan. The one variation uses only "downward blocks" and the other uses downward blocks, then upper then inside blocks. Sorry not to answer your question, but i thought it might be relevent???

gokenki1 Member Registered: 06/08/04 Posts: 120 Loc: north waterford , me, usa.	johnl meikyo was created from matsumura rohai,Itosu created rohai shodan,nidan,and sandan katas.don't know for sure but the katas that you menationed might be variations of the Itosu katas.
