KARATE: THE PRACTICAL FIGHTING ART
IAIN ABERNETHY & GAVIN MULHOLLAND
OPEN SEMINAR: 19th FEBRUARY 2006, SOLIHULL, BIRMINGHAM
A return to the origins of karate and the devastating bunkai contained in the kata.
This is a unique opportunity to train with two of the UK’s leading exponents of applied karate: Iain Abernethy, 5th Dan Wado Ryu and Gavin Mulholland, 5th Dan Goju Ryu.
The seminar covers applications from both the Shuri- and Naha-based kata found in countless modern styles, including Shotokan, Wado Ryu, Goju Ryu and Kyokushinkai. The kata are rich in simple, realistic self defence techniques including strikes, locks, chokes, throws, grappling and ground-fighting.
All martial artists (including non-karate stylists) are welcome. The principles, concepts and applications covered will enrich any martial arts practice. Traditional dojo etiquette will be in place to ensure a safe training environment.
