New York accent? I figured an Osaka ben was more like...a Southern drawl...you know...friendly like.

Ed, you are a regular Steven Segal...at least it's funny to hear an Osaka accent from a round-eye .

And I cheated of course...wife's from Osaka.

Later, dude! Coffee's on me.

They only watch it in Japanese on DVD...the stuff on US TV isn't translated well and sounds plastic.

dubbed stuff is a crap, no doubts... no intonation, no wordplay, no choice of language forms left... but bittorrent usually saves the day... one can get plenty of new subbed anime with bittorrent

Segal speaks perfect Japanese, but has an Osaka-ben. Funny. Check out Above the Law again when he speaks to the Japanese computer lady.

He got very good Thai as well [although not fluent]. And the thing that shocks me, he has a northern accent on it. That's some really strange stuff.

my Japanese suucks now...really. the kids refuse to let me butcher it...."give it up dad - eigo hanashinasai!".

eigo hanashinasai = 'speak English!' (like an order or strongly suggesting)
