I am a Roku-Dan in ninpo Taijutsu and have 29 years in the Martail Arts, and I still dont feel qualified to teach.
But my instructor always said "If you like to teach and have the heart of a teacher then you should, providing you know thwe material and not getting it out of "Kwie Chang Kains insta-guide to Kung-fu mastery.(Hapkido in your case.)
I never thought I would be able to qualifiy as an Instructor...
So look at there preformance, teaching style, attitude, how they carry themselves in public.
Also how long has he been studying Hapkido?,The Martial Arts?
Can he prove his/her rank or was it lost in a fire?, If so,was it given when earned or was it given to soon?
Just a few questions you need to ask yourself.
See if he/she will let you sit in on a couple of clases for free. If not, Run away fast....
I teach for free now but I used to not let any newbis join up till they set in an participated for a week, for free.
It would be dishonest to take there money if they didnt like the art or my teaching style, which is very aggressive.
