I don't know how you have seen this "proven", but I am fairly sure all children have been subjected to and subjected others to one form of bullying or another.

I would have thought it was a form of social dominance/conditioning which occurs when there is no authority figure to tell them where they have overstepped their limit.

Although it is true that children who continually are agressive often do come from abusive homes...this is more than simply "bullying".

A great question. How do we "drag them" into being involved in such discussions/presentations? Ask them anything about an electronic game, or a cartoon they've seen and they have many (too many?) answers. Ask them if they have any questions about XYZ we're talking to them about and you would think they were literally paralyzed

For bullying have you tried your particular states Department of Education policy concerning bullying? Your local Board of Education policy on bullying. Chances most such policies are on the internet. They might provide additional scenarios for discussion possibly?

As for situation, you might consider asking them about being "bullyied" on the bus. Surely there is excellent good potential for discussion re: bullying there.

Cord, interesting statement about the bully present in class. The class is fairly small, a handful of 7-12 year olds so it's easy to personally know each of them. When each of them joined, the first thing I stressed is respect. But I do agree some of them might be behaving angelicly because of the color of my belt .
One way I try to rid the bully from my class is to force everyone to work out with different kids, varying size and gender so they won't get attached to their friend and effortlessly mimic the techniques while talking of Pokemon and Spongebob. I try to help them make friends with everyone in the class by getting them to cheer for the student sparring with me or the other instructors.
I thank you for that statement, it has got me paying a tad bit more attention to their-well overrall posture and etc.

The only bully in my class is going to be ME! And their parents pay for them to clean the mirrors. I'm just kidding.....my girlfriend cleans the mirrors.
