Ok. Ok. Ok people. I admit to being wrong about posting the best martial art thread... lesson leared... will not happen again. I would like to say that I was not trying to put Krav Maga on a pedestal. I know nothing of this martial art, I simply heard I was very effeciant. Also, there was someone who posted about me trying to prove how amazing I am... If you read the initial post, you would see that I am an amatuer martial artist. Thanks, thats it.

Dont worry about it dude!
It shows better character and martial artist quality if you make mistakes and then learn from them than if you are perfect or show to be perfect.
In any case.
You have to remember that alot of MAs have stood the test of time for a reason, and efficiency has got to be one of them. All MAs are taught on the basis of principles, and of course they are different from each other. There is no such thing as the ultimate martial art, every martial art has some flaws. I wouldnt call them flaws, more like areas of expertise. It would be impossible for one martial art to be the best in every aspect of fighting and contain all the secrets and all the effective techniques for every possible scenario.

I ll give you an example. Dim Mak (or pressure point application) has been developed over thousands of years. And that is just one aspect of one application of a handfull of arts. If it takes that long for one art to develop you can see why it is ineficient for every art to ex[plore every outcome. Its like saying that biology is weaker than physics. Its not, it just deals with a different aspect of the world. The two subjects are overlaping (they both work with maths for example) as a lot of martial arts are, but they specialise in different aspects of our world.
The other reason why you cannot compare martial arts and why you cannot possibly have a productive discussion about them is because it depends on the effort the individual puts in the MA.

I did kickboxing for a little while, and then started wing chun. I immediately though that wing chun is a superior system and after a year of lessons I felt confident that I can whoop a kickboxer's butt. I sparred with a kickboxer who was very good and very aware of what he was doing and I landed on MY butt faster than you can say, WOW!

Be well, train hard in whatever you are doing and be the best you can be in what you train in.

GEB, you are most certainly welcome to the forums here. I'm glad you're big enough to admit your mistake, and that you learned something from it.
