Glad you got through your journeys unharmed- welcome back

Your comments about the price of medical care make me realise how lucky we in the UK are to have a National Health Service. It has its faults, but it is there for all.

Glad the brace is helping, keep using it as and when it becomes necessary.

3rd day without the brace and doing well. Still a shot of pain if I forget and squat down too low, but I'm getting better at not doing that.

Still have a little bit of pain that seems to be coming from the Tibial Collateral Ligament as seen here:
http://www.bartleby.com/107/illus345.html

Now that's just a guess as to the general location, could be something totally different.

Joel,

I have to wear a brace whenever I practice. Custom brace....my share after insurance was $750.00. $1,500 if no insurance.

Knee surgery with insurance with all the ancillary physical therapy, MRI, pre-op check up. I am up to six grand out of pocket. Yuck.

45 minute operation for just using the hospital (this is without considering doctor's fees and all the sundries for an operation), seven grand.

Hooo Boy!

Yikes!! What was your knee problem? I hope it's not contagious.

Just to let everybody know, I went on my first real run since this problem popped up last September yesterday. I only ran/jogged? half of the distance I did then, one lap around the local park track (0.6 miles) because my cardio is not where I would like it. It was at a 8:20 mile pace, which I'm happy with considering I haven't run since September. And no pain or inflammation of my knee at all. I didn't ice it afterwards, but I think I will in the future just to be safe.

I do get a little bit of pain on really cold or rainy days, and I've had a couple of very minor inflammations pop up, usually only for an afternoon.

I plan on getting it looked at someday and medical insurance is getting set up at work, so hopefully I won't be 50 before I make it to a doc.
