Not even the real thing is allowed in dojos (or at least to my knowledge). However practice ones are still legal and will most likely be found in these places.

I'd say trying buying some pairs from amazon.com
I got 2 great pairs from them, and Im in California. I train alot at home with them, and never take em out anywhere obviously.

Holy bat#*!^, Batman! That's the first I've ever heard of such laws in the UK. Can't imagine watching a BL film without the nunchaku scenes???

Yeah, the edit in some versions of Enter the dragon is so baaad.

When they released the 25th anniversary 'uncut' version into UK cinemas I was going to see it with a friend. I rang the cinema for tickets and they said they'd had to show the cut version because the BBFC still wouldn't allow THAT scene. Pretty ridiculous when you think of what you CAN see at the cinema.

i have a real pair and practice one but i can carry both in public. i live in north carolina btw. from what ive learned ( and this may be wrong but its what several adults have said) real numchucks were illegal years ago but now they are legal as long as they are not concealed.

"NUNCHAKU" is pronounced "noon-chah-koo"...say it again..."noon-chah-koo".

Anything else (numchucks, chucks, chucka-sticks, etc.) shows your ignorance.

If I were trying to decide if ANY weapon could be carried in public, I'd ask the local police, not rely on what I heard from "several adults". You even admit that they might be wrong & you're still willing to take the chance. You deserve to get arrested for being judgement-impared.

But I guess you know what's what.

black belt magazine said that there are different legnths and the shorter of them are called numchuks and longer are numchaku. but if im wrong give me a site or something i can verify cuz im tired of being told that that is right then its wrong then its right. : / ive done research but in case you havent noticed a lot of people talk about stuff they dont know about so its kinda hard to find an honest source.

No axe to grind either way but a web search for numchuck brings a lot of things. maybe it is a dialectal difference in pronunciation (does Japanese recognise a difference between 'm' and 'n'?)
