VDJ, thanks a lot for the offer. I sent you a private message. I'm not quite sure if you received it, however.
Phantom, I did receive your private message. I have sent my friend an e-mail and am waiting for him to contact me.Once I have a contact for you (whether it be my friend or his instructor) I will forward it to you in a private message at the board. I apologize to Kepi and the others here who have sent me private messages from the forum. I was unaware of the way you could retrieve them. I am still rather new to this community and the software that the board provides. I will check the private message area more frequently from now on.

Phantom, I just wanted to let you know that my buddy is away. I am traveling to Chicago for the week and probably won't be posting until Thursday. Please remain patient and I will forward the info when I get back.

Please don't type with capslock on, it seems like you are shouting when you do that.

Oh, I know what you mean. I, too, have seen PLENTY of really poorly skilled black belts. I've seen 1st, 2nd, and even a 3rd dan black belt who all still look like they should be wearing colored belts...and I'm not exaggerating. It's so disappointing to those of us who actually take their training and the art seriously. Especially seeing how so many schools keep on selling belts to their TKD students regardless of whether or not they actually deserve them. Nothing urks me more than to see students with crappy techniques, weak and anemic kicks and punches with no definition to them at all, and sh*tty posture during forms still being awarded their belts. What's up with the standards (or lack thereof) of instructors nowadays?!

"....Might as well leave as a current 2nd Gup rather than continue wasting my time. So what do you forum fellas think? Should I stick it out or move on?...."
I think you are probably right. I also think its important to remember that the reasons you are sharing with us can be used to excuse yourself from pretty much ANY school you find. No matter what school you attend there will always be a point at which you feel like you are just doing the same things over and over again, and not learning what you believe you "should" be learning. Happens all the time. Boxers, wrestlers, golfers, Baseball players all go through the same thing. My best guess is that you have hit the end of your reasonable interest in MA and now are looking for something else. Problem is that you have made a commitment and it might be hard to face the fact that your commitment was a bit less than you thought it was. As far as I am concerned thats OK since I hold that following the path of MA is not for everyone anymore than is cooking, marriage, computer science or any other endeavor. Maybe you need to cut yourself some slack, yes?
Best Wishes,
Bruce

I don't think you read his post ! He is in a school that is only concentrating on the SPORT aspect. If thats all you want from a school then thats fine, but he wants a MARTIAL ARTS school not a MARTIAL SPORTS school. I don't think its a lack of commitment to his training as much as he feels short changed from the instructor about their curriculum.
