Recently, I've found some REALLY good light yogurt. Apple turnover yogplait, yum. : )

I'm eating two things of it every day, and supposedly, eating dairy and cardio helps with six packs.

I'm wondering if anyone here has had much experience with the dairy-helps-you-lose-weight idea.

I much rather perfer the common-sense-helps-you-lose-weight idea. I like yogurt but I wouldn't eat it everyday, its high in fat and depending on the yogurt can be high in sodium.

I haven't heard of the dairy-helps-you-lose-weight idea but I'm sure it exists out there somewhere, everything when it comes to losing weight exists out there somewhere.

I enjoy yogurt, either by itself or mixed into a smoothie. The generic Wal-Mart brand I have in front of me is 6oz, 80 calories, 0g fat, 110mg sodium (5%DV), and 7g protein. Granted, it is "Lite," but the taste is great and you can't beat 7g protien for 80 calories as a quick snack.

I've read about one or two studies saying dairy can aid in weight-loss, but it wil do no good of you drink whole milk and other high-fat dairy products.

But to each his/her own.

I eat yogurt in smoothies too... soo good, *mouth waters* and I find depending on the brand the low-fat yogurt tastes the same and sometimes better then the regular yogurt.

Like Joel said, don't expect to lose weight if you are drinking/eating high fat dairy products like cheese and whole milk.

Eating yoghurts and doing a cardio workout is not going to get you a six pack.
Firstly i believe you need to have a certain percentage of body fat in order for six packs to be visible. If you want a six pack, you need to consider your fat percentage, you need to do ab excercises and do some weight training and need to draw up a healthy balanced diet.

Cownose will probably one of the better and more informed people to discuss this with.

Only the greatest invention in food. There are many different varities of types of smoothies you can make, ones we are referring to here are with yogurt. Usually they consist of:

  • Yogurt + fruit (best if frozen), mix in blender
  • Yogurt + fruit (best if frozen) + milk, mix in blender
  • Yogurt + juice + fruit, mix in blender
  • Anything else I haven't thought of


You can also add things such as protien powder to smoothies.

My favorites are, frozen banana and strawberries with milk and lf/nf vanilla yogurt or frozen mixed berries, with milk and lf/nf strawberry yogurt or orange juice with ice and frozen banana, but the latter is an orange julius.

If the yogurt is fat free watch out, cause it will be high in suger, some yogurt are like 6 grams of protein and 20 grams or carbs cause of the high suger.

I prefere cottage cheese, 106 cals, 15 grams of protein, 6 grams of carbs, 4 grams of fat.

I haven't been able to find a decent fat free yogurt myself, either. I'm not a huge fan of aspartame, and I've yet to see a brand sweetened with Splenda.

What I do now is buy fat free plain yogurt; I add Sugar-Twin brown sugar substitute (maltodextrin) and throw in some cinnamon, raisins and walnuts.

It can double as dip for veggies and nachos. Plain, or add a bit of dry onion soup mix.
