Ok, I know chi is like, internal life force or sumthing, but I'm kinda skeptic, how does it work, I mean, every time someone ignores pain and act like it doesn't affect them, is that chi, and how do you suposedly, "gain" and "lose" chi?

The shaolin monks would go on alow horse stance for many hours breathing slowly and pushing down the stomache untill u feel the ball of chi in ur center abs. Chi is only real if you belive its real, it was even on the National Geographic channel. they show a 8th degree blackbelt martial artist knockout a oponent feets away without touching him. I think thats also in Dim Mak.

Oy vey. For the last time, you CAN NOT knock someone out without touching them. No touch, sound KO's, etc., are NOT real.

the thing is that ki, chi, prana or whatever is not as mystical or mysterious as you think. Ki can basically mean many different things and there r many different kinds of ki. The most common definition of ki when using in a martial arts context is your breath. So when u r using ur ki in MAs , u r usually coordinating ur breath with ur movement or strengthening different parts of ur body with dynamic tension exercises combined with deep breathing(hard qigong). another common definition of ki is your life force or energy, but people who r more interested in energy arts for health(yoga or soft qigong) r usually more concerned with that. But as for physically affecting the environment with energy seems a little too far-fetched. I have to experience it for myself to believe that.

However, I did see something on Discovery Channel, which showed a monk raising his body temperature, and steaming wet clothes dry.
Weird!
I see no reason not to beleive it, and good reason to find valid explanations for it.

So are you saying that there is no use for your "life force" or "energy" within a martial context?
