I don't like DVD's unless you are actually taking a class as well and you can learn to apply the stuff while sparring/grappling. I've got a couple of Gracie Produced books about Self Defense and the other is Ground Submissions. They are very very good books, but I have a training partner to try the stuff on. It would be kind of pointless if I had no training partner however.
