I'm a student of Tae Kwon Do under the ITA, and I'm currently a senior green belt, though I tested for my blue belt last night.
At testing, we have to spar 3 3 or 4 minute rounds with a blackbelt. Each round, black belts rotate.

I actually sparred three of my friends who are black belts, and we sparred well, I think...But I was the aggressor, and I glanced over at the judges who gestured at us sparring, and whispered something to my instructor, who was sitting to his left.
I was kicking and punching quickly, being the aggressor, and I might've been kicking too might've made it seem like I was being too aggressive, or disrespectful to a higher rank...

I don't think I did anything wrong, but I also don't have the authority to say that.

I used front kicks and roundhouses, and I occasionally stepped in for a quick jab. I blocked the majority of attacks coming at me, I'd say about 60-80 percent.

When I sat down, and I was watching the other belts sparring, I noticed that they were sparring with a lot less energy than my sparring partners and I were...

Do you think this'll be okay?
I really want to pass my rank test. I've been senior green for 4 months, because my entire family got sick with some kind of flu-ish thing, and we couldn't test the first time.

Wish me luck.

There's nothing wrong with being aggressive, I don't see why they would have a problem. Unless of course they felt you lacked control which is very important. I noticed you're sig. says 55 hours of training? That's not very long for a green belt. I would really hope thats class time only, even so its not very much at all. If I had to make an estimate I would say my in class time was somewhere around 1500-2000 hours, with home traning somewhere in the 800-1000 hour range. It seems like most of my posts are complaining about how quickly people earn belts. It just really bothers me, especially with Tkd, most martial artists already look upon it as a black belt factory.

Edit: In the time it took me to post this you definetly changed your sig lol.

Posts: 92 55 hours, I mean 55 classes, each class being one hour long.
But that's changed, it's more around 60-65 classes now.

Of course, I train at home by myself, and my dad takes, too, so we discuss techniques and stetch and work out together and stuff.

The time I spend training at home is probably about 2 or 3 hours a day, except for the weekends...

As long as your aggression is controlled, there is no problem. All your techniques in sparring should show control and respect is also very important. You sound like you were sparring very nicely, since you were able to assess how aggressive you were being.

While I'm not an instructor or anything close, I doubt that your aggression would work against you in sparring. As long as it was controlled that is. If you were just windmilling your arms in a frenzy then I would think you'd get marked down for that, but outside of that I would think that aggression would probably work in your favor.

Fighting spirit is a very important part of the martial arts. I'm extremely aggressive when I spar, but I hold back enough to not hurt lower belts.

It amazes me the number of people who start up at schools (especially the sport oriented ones) who look unbelievably frightened every time they spar. If you don't want to get hit, then why did you join the martial arts to begin with?

That's like hating snow but moving to Michigan.
