One of my favorite Korean movies. Great storyline. Good moments of tension, saddness, humor, and acts of necessity. Picture at the end is really cool.

I saw a great war movie call Botherhood in japan (I think its Brotherhood of Tea-somethign in teh west). Excellent movie.

Also "Voice" a horror (also called "phone" I think) is great too.

(glad this thread didn't slip to the back of the line because...)

I just saw a GREAT movie on DVD called "Oldboy". If you like Tarentino movies, you'll love this one. Lots of plot twists, black humor, tension, graphic violence & some good fight scenes (not your everyday "win w/o ascratch", fantasy TKD sort). BTW: it's both subtitled and/or dubbed.

The reason I rented this is because I watched JSA last month & was impressed. There are some really good films coming out of Korea. The Special Features of the DVD lists other films that have arroused my interest.

I won't give anything away but you gotta SEE THIS FILM! It's a real hedkikr!

When 'P.S.L.' hit your country, don't miss it. You get Sammo Hung, Donnie Yen and Simon Yam and many unknown but superb martial artist extras. I've seen many good movie fights, this is THE best. Lots of ground fighting between Sammo and Donnie and the fight between Donnie holding a police telescopic truncheon against an assasin (played by an unknown actor) with a knife has to be seen to be believed.

JSA is a very good movie... well recognized abroad.

Oldboy has won some awards abroad as well... pretty gross at times tho.

i'd recommand shiri too... again about north and south spies.

please avoid Double Agent, which had poor storyline, poor acting... again with north and south spies!

Did anyone see "Volcano High"? lol a ridiculously funny MA and almost historical Korean movie

My dad alwasy told me about his generation in Korea, and I am confidant that this movie was based on postwar Korea with the crazy fight, crazy teachers, and so many gangs lol

It was on MTV about 2 years ago with the voices we all know and love like Lil' Jon and Snoop Dogg haha check it out sometime.

They have had some really good MA movies out recently. Arahan (lot's of comedy like KFH) and Sword in the Moon (dynasty story).

Moderator's note:

I'll allow this thread as long as it seems to have some cultural or artistic value; movie suggestions should include a brief abstract of the merit of the movie.

Movies that do not fall into this genre, should either have some martial aspect (and belong in a Media section)...or not be posted.

Thank you.
