Ok, lol. I just had this thought. You see all these fighting styles, but they are all traditional and everything. Like, they wer made baack in the ages way before us. Well, I was wondering if its possible to make your own fighting style? Yes, I even think this sounds stupid, but hey, even the other styles had to start somewhere.

You're clearly an idiot. Try reading some of the 1000 or so posts on the forum regarding the subject. Interestingly, most of the stupid posts are from guys aged 12 - 15.

I'll take a softer tone, but there are threads on this subject. There have been nearly a thousand new styles "createed" since the end of WW2. I wouldn't even bother with trying to create another style, because by the time you can get enough experience in different MA, there will be ten thousand new styles of MA.

Sure, you *could* create your own style. You *could* put on a white lab coat and call yourself Doctor Billy.
It's true that all fighting systems started somewhere, but not with one person. They evolved over time, developed by people who already had many years of fighting experience. They'd work together, and practise new ideas. They'd keep the ones that seemed to work well, and got rid of the ones that did not.
That said, some people "create" their own style (Bob-jitsu, Kung Frank) grant themselves grandmaster status (15th Dan!) set up a McDojo (earn a black belt in 6 months!!) and start raking in the dough. Great way to scam a lot of money, lousy way to earn credibility.

Sure, go for it!!
Spend about 65 years of your life getting into fights, healing from them, studying biomechanics and figuring out the best, most effective ways to cause injury to others.
When you're done you will be old, battered, most likely crippled, and maybe you might have something almost resembling a halfway decent "fighting style."
Or you could just take one of the many, many, many arts available that have been around for years that are proven, effective fighting styles.
Other than that, I pretty much agree with John.

It's possible, certainly. Whether the style will continue or not and whether it'll be considered "legitimate" are the questions which must be asked. Don't expect a new art to cover novel grounds because most everything when it comes to unarmed combat has been done before. It's more likely to be a synthesis of what's come before hand, with different philosophies.
One thing's for certain though, a new MA will not survive unless it has a strong curriculum and a very expert creator. All creators of past MA worth speaking of were masters of their arts and thought deeply about what principles they wanted their MA to follow.
One example of someone who created an MA is Bruce Lee, well versed in "live" fighting and intelligent in his development of his MA. So you see it takes a remarkable man/woman indeed to create a new style. In fact, I'd say it takes more than just one person to really create a new style.
Someone with no experience in MA or the principles/philosophies behind MA will only be fooling themselves and others if they try to create a new MA. A beginner or even the average master has no hope of creating an MA worth continuing, it takes even more thoughtfullness and willpower than is usually found in a "normal" MA practitioner.

I agree wholeheartedly with JohnL. Nothing more to say. Oh. Wait. If there was a Bob-jitsu, or Kung Frank dojo near me, I would definately take the free introductory lesson Page

Just don't introduce yourself as an "established outside instructor."
