Hello.

I'm trying to learn how to do a kip-up, but I'm just not getting it. I keep landing on my rear, or falling on my back.
Clearly, I'm doing it ALL wrong.
Can any one provide a step-by-step tutorial, or link to same?
I'm looking for a "Kip-up for Dummies" kind of thing.

Thanks!

Z

Thanks, Matt!

If I understand correctly, my legs should generate almost all the power/forward motion. How hard should I push off with my hands?

Only as much as you need. I can do a no handed kip up pretty easy, in fact for me using hands throws me off. Just experiment and find what works for you.

I find doing no handed kip ups starts hurting my neck after a while... is that bad?

It can become bad. Maybe you should stregnthen your neck. Just lay down and pick your head up off the floor and hold it. Every once in a wahile rotate it a little to work the different neck muscles.

Sorry for sounding ignorant, but what is a kip up?
I'm guessing its either when you spring forward off your back (or neck), or when you spring backwards off your back/neck.

It's when you spring forward from your back.
