Greetings everyone. Please have the patience to deal with another newbie. I've been browsing this forum for a few months , thank you all who posted to spread what knoweldge you know. After reading around I've decided to commit myself to aikido. Now I'm having real trouble with finding a dojo, google wasn't that big of a help. Does anyone know of a dojo in Southern California, in the Los Angeles area? I found one near my area but I would like to "shop" around, to have more options. Thanks for your time.

Kensho Furuya is in Los Angles. Mits Yamashita teaches in Long Beach (Sanbukan) affliated with Gozo Shioda's group.

There is also in Torrance, Yoseikan Aikido North American Honbu (Pre-WWII style of Aikido with a mixture of karate).

There are several others if you search carefully enough and know what you are looking for.

Is Santa Barbara close by? Lia Suzuki 5th dan (guest instructor at Aiki Expo '05!) has a dojo there, affiliated with Aikido KenkyuKai under Yoshinobu Takeda 7th dan (direct student of Seigo Yamaguchi).

I've trained with her once. She's good.... and a bit of a hottie too.

Eyrie,

Sorry, Santa Barbara is further up north from LA. But, if nothing else you gave some names and you never know if there are some branches somewhere.

Matsuoka Sensei also teaches in L.A. and Orange County. Check out his website: www.ikazuchi.com He was Steven Seagal's number 1 student in Osaka, Japan and then when they moved to Calfornia, Matsuoka Sensei was the Chief Instructor at the old Ten Shin Institute in L.A.
