I bought the book, "The Abs Diet" and was wondering what the opinions of others are on it. There is one problem I have. A lot of the recipes or snacks are or contain fruit. The problem is I really hate fruit. I'll drink orange juice, and I'll eat apples. I know, it's not good, and fruit is very important in your diet. Bananas....I can get threw one, those aren't too bad.

Anyways, here is the diet:

Monday....

Breakfast: One tall glass Abs Diet Ultimate Power Smoothie
Snack#1: 2 teaspoons peanut butter, raw vegtables
Lunch: Cold Turkey Sandwhich, 1 cup milk, 1 apple
Snack#2: 1 ounce almonds, 1 1/2 cup berries
Dinner: Mas Macho Meatballs
Snack#3: Abs Diet Ultimate Power Smoothie

Tuesday....

Breakfast: Eggs Beneficial Sandwhich
Snack#1: 2 teaspoons peanut butteer, 1 bowl oatmeal or high fiber cereal
Lunch: Salad
Snack#2: 3 slices deli turkey, 1 large orange
Dinner: Bodacious Brazilian Chicken
Snack#3 1 ounce almonds, 4 ounces cantaloupe

Wednesday....
Breakfast: One tall glass Strawberry Field marshal Smoothie
Snack#1: 1 ounce almonds, 1 ounce raisins
Lunch: Guac and Roll
Snack#2: 1 stick string cheese, raw vegetables
Dinner: Chile-Pepper Steak
Snack#3 Strawberry Field Marshall Smoothie

Thursday....

Breakfast: 1 slice whole grain bread, 1 tablesppon peanut butter, 1 medium orange 1 cup all bran cereal, 1 cup milk, 1 cup berries
Snack#1: 8 ounces low fat yogurt, 1 can low sodium V8
Lunch: Guilt Free BLT
Snack#2: 3 slices deli roast beef, 1 large orange
Dinner: Philadelphia Fryers
Snack#3 2 teaspoons peanut butter, 1 cup low fat ice cream

Friday....

Breakfast: One glass Banana Split Smoothie
Snack#1: 1 once almonds, 4 ounces Cantaloupe
Lunch: Hot Tuna
Snack #2: 3 slices roast beef, one large orange
Dinner: Chili Con Turkey
Snack#3: Banana Split Smoothie

Saturday....

Breakfast: Halle Berries Smothie
Snack#1: 1 bowl cereal, 1 cup yogurt
Lunch: Leftover CHili COn Turkey
Snack#2: 2 teaspoons peanut butter, 2 slices bread
Dinner: Cheat Meal
Snack#3: Halle Berries Smoothie

Sunday....

Breakfast: Sanwhich
Snack#1: 2 teaspoons peanut butter, 1 can V8 juice
Brunch: 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices whole grain toast, 1 banana, 1 cup milk
Snack#2: 3 slices of roast beef 1 slice cheese
Dinner: BBQ King
Snack #3:1 ounce almonds, 1 cup low fast ice cream

So, here's what I need help on. Would it be bad if I took out the cantaloupe, almonds and berries? Because I don't like either of them. And what if I substituted the actual oranges for orange juice? Would that be ok? Also, Thursday and Friday, they're hot lunches, I'm in school, so I can't be cooking, any ideas on what to replace those lunches with?

I ordered the book, not for the abs or diet(the all-knowing Cord advised me not to go on it), but it hasn't come in the mail yet. I think I might go on the diet, since I'm starting to get into parkour and most traceurs use the abs diet. Um.... as far as I know..even when there are things I don't like in a smoothie, it tastes great when its all mixed up?

P.S. How could you not like fruit?

Look guys, I appreciate that i have strong opinions on certain things, diets being one of them, but i only give advice, not orders, you must all do as you see fit, but look at the above 7 day regime, it involves weighing, measuring, avoidance of some foods, reliance on others. Why?

Lets say you do great on this plan, you achieve all you want in your physique. Do you stay on the diet forever? imagine that, 'Groundhog Day' for your taste buds week in, week out, year in year out.
Or do you come off the diet and resume your normal habits- you know, the ones that made you so out of shape that you decided to spend money on a diet book in the first place.

What happens when you go on holiday? how do you adapt it to the festive season? What happens if your blender breaks and you cant make your 'special power shakes'?

You would be better served spending your money and effort on some basic academic literature on nutrition, and its relationship with your physiology, this would allow you to make informed decisions of your own on how to eat, rather than blindly following the opinions of those intent on making money out of your ignorance.
It is in the best interests of the diet industry for you to fail in your goals. Without failure there is no repeat custom, and no sustainable revenue.

Common sense and sustainable healthy eating will triumph over set diets and forced periods of willpower, but you will learn this yourselves over time.

Wow, this book doesn't sound like it's pushing products now does it? I wonder which came first...the product and then a book full of it's adverts or vice versa!

Must be great to be able to go through a day without having to chew any of your food.

I bought a different version of the book that I think could be better. Instead of a set diet like I posted, this book gives recipes for 60 actual meals, as well information on how to chose the right foods when eating out.

Any eating plan that is based around achieving physical 'beauty' or aesthetic improvement stands a good chance of treating healthy nutritional balance as a secondary concern.
Just remember that health and wellbeing are more important than a 6 pack, and that being ripped does not always equate with being fit and healthy. Also, any eating plan that relies on things you actively dislike is doomed to fail long term. You dont like fruit, so it is common sense to have the minimum amount per day for health, and make up your vit/min quota with fresh vegetables.
I hate avocado, therefore I dont make it part of my staple diet- to do so would be masochistic and miserable.
Think about it, and best of luck with whatever you choose to do.

Well, you're suppose to have what? 2-4 servings of fruit a day right? So, an apple, a banana, a glass or two of orange juice a day.....is that enough? Those are the only fruits I'll get near. However, if eating a variety of fruits is needed to stay healthy, then I'll try and find a couple more I like, or at least can tolerate.

You're supposed to aim for 5 portions of fruit or veg a day according to the British health authority but this may differ in the States!

The USDA site told me I needed 4 cups of vegetables and 2.5 cups of fruit.
