In association with the United Goju Seminars (UGS) two of the countries most respected instructors are teaming up to conduct a seminar on the kata Tensho. Chris Rowen Shihan 6th Dan has recently released the book "Kata Tensho", plus a complimenting DVD, both of which have been greatly received. This seminar will compliment the content of the book, focusing upon principles of distance (Ma-Maai), Uke (Blocks), Kaisitu Waza (open hand techniques) consisting of circular/hooking, pulling and re-directing, partner work, etc. Chris Rowen spent a considerable amount of time studying in Japan and Okinawa, having the honour of being a direct student of the legendary Gogen Yamaguchi Hanshi.

Simon Lailey will be complimenting Chris's session with an in-depth study of "Kata Tensho" with regard to its Chinese and Okinawan heritage where topics for review will include muchimi, qinna, rokkishu, and the Shaolin connection. Simon has spent considerable time studying and living in the orient including 2 years living in Fuzhou. He is considered to be an authoritive figure on the Fujianese roots and origins of Karate.

The seminar will take place on June 26th 2005 at the Sleeping Storm Dojo, Hook Road, Epsom, Surrey KT19 8TU. Registration is at 11.30 am with the seminar starting at 12.00 and finishing at 17.00.
