I have to admit, the commonly seen "forward throw", can be a little awkward to execute on an "uncooperative" person, but the principle of a forward/backward takedown is there: tai-otoshi (body drop), uchimata (inner-thigh reap), o-soto gari (major outer reap), ashi harai (foot sweep), ko-soto gake (minor outer hook), kouchi gari (minor inner reap) etc.

Remember, it's the "principle", not the technique...

....transitioning from that to a rear, knifehand elbow lock, then with my free hand either applying a choke or collar grap. It's a very painful place for them and a powerful position for me. Lots of options from there.

Knifehand elbow lock = Ude gatame (rear arm entanglement)?
Where your left knife hand is behind their right elbow (which is bent@90 degrees and your knifehand is at your belt level)?

A couple of nice pain compliance nerve points in the brachial plexus, carotid, and front of the shoulder are exposed.

There was no sarcasm intended and no appology is necessary.

My interest and my thanks are genuine.

Not being an aikidoka I do not know many of the terms for the same or what appears to be a similar technique in hapkido.

Each exchange is an opportunity to learn something.

Again, thanks.

Oh! I wasn't sure...

I should clarify that some of what I've shared isn't strictly aikido, although the principles are there. Most of the techniques come from judo/jujitsu, if you need to clarify what these are.

Cheers,
