Pitchford-sensei is teaching Mugai Ryu in Chicago http://www.japaneseculturecenter.com/iaido/ He is associated with the Nippon Iaido Renmei.

Check out www.shinjinkai.org. It's located at 3717 N Ravenswood and is the official Chicago HQ for the U.S. Federation of Mugai Ryu Iaihyodo. It is also a branch dojo for Shinbukan Kuroda Ryugi. In fact Tetsuzan Kuroda Sensei will be visiting the US July 7 - 10. Shinbukan Kuroda was founded in 1848 and continues to teach it's curriculum of samurai military arts.

Just so that we're clear these are two different branches of Mugai Ryu.

There is also Iai-Tate-Do offered at Midwest Shotokan in Mount Prospect. Their site is www.midwest-shotokan-karate.com.

Midwest Shotokan just calls it Iaido but when you start class or ask some questions you'll find out it's Iai-Tate-Do Iaido. Cieplik-Sensei use to teach out of his house when the class was only about 4 to 6 students. With 6 students, it was really tight.

So it's Kashima Shinto Ryu?
hmmm it stated Kashima Shinto Ryu
well i thought Kashima Shinto Ryu is more of kenjutsu like Tenshin Shoden Katori Shinto Ryu. Iaijustu is part of the system.

Modernwarrior,
You should consider Mr. Ritacco. With more than 30 years of kenjutsu experience, you'll be hard pressed to find a better instructor in Chicago...or the midwest for that matter. You've already found the website, so I won't bother repeating the address.
