Most people think of Morote Uke/ Sudo Maghi as a block. It certainly can be used as a block. It can also be used as a strike, lock combination that attacks the opponents striking or pushing arm.

Use the wrap up of the block to simultaneously to protect your face while grabbing the attacker’s left wrist and striking his bicep with your elbow. From there, step in looping your left arm over, then under the attacker’s elbow exerting upward pressure. and strike the opponent with your right hand. You could strike the collarbone, Cartoid artery, jaw, or bridge of the nose. Lever under the elbow bringing your opponent up on his toes unweighting him. A quick 180 turn to your left can throw the attacker.

Give it a try.

Do you mean right wrist?

Other than that, pretty cool, I like it.

Good example of why a block is not a block.

I for one look forward to next week's technique.

Oldman, may we suggest techniques or do you have some already drawn up?

Shuko,
Feel free to PM me with a suggestion. I don't have any existing drawings. I can't promise I'll get to them. It's always nice to have an idea starter.

Also shows "the dreaded chamber" as something else.

I have always tried to express to other students that blocks are also strikes. I am to use that application in class next time we do kata. I wish you had a whole book of applications done by funny looking characters.
