where i live there is no places that teach any type of sword fighting like kendo, and since i am a kid and cannot travel to the nearest city which is like 45 mins away and I think may have a kendo dojo I cant get to it, so.. I was wondering if there is any websites i could visit that teach it online that someone may know of.
I was also wondering what iaido ( hope i spelled it right ) is because i've heard of kendo but never iaido.
and i was also wondering what type of martial arts the samurai studied or if it was more then one.

This was a surprise to me, as I thought we were the only ones doing Iaido in Ottawa. So, I dug up some information for those who are interested. The style practiced is Muso Shinden Ryu. The teacher (Gary Roberts) has been studying Iaido since last fall, so he says this is more of a study group. He learned from Claude Berthiaume, in Montreal (Aikido de la Montagne). Mr. Berthiaume held godan (5th dan) Iaido in 2000 (according to an article on the net), but I don't know if he graded since then. He is also 7th dan aikido. For Iaido, he has mostly trained under Kanai sensei since 1974. Kanai sensei unfortunately passed away a year ago.
So, it seems legit to me, not a mcdojo. I find it a bit strange for someone with less than a year experience leading a study group, but I'm not involved in the politics of it.
FYI, the sensei for Iaido at Tateyama dojo is Dave Green, godan CKF (MJER). He has been practicing for over 15 years, under Ohmi Goyo 7th dan CKF and Kim Taylor 6th dan CKF (all MJER). I hope to put more information up on the web page soon.

You do not learn kendo or Iaido through the internet, videos OR books. They are not appropriate to transmit the right information to you, and correct you if you are wrong. They will not guide you according to your strengths and weaknesses.
If there are no clubs in your area, the choice is simple, if unfortunate; move somewhere else where you can find instruction, or wait until an instructor shows up in your area. It's a sad reality, but those arts aren't like Burger King; you can't just have it your way.

Iaido specializes in drawing the sword and cutting your opponent in one fluid motion. Then usually followed by one more cut to finish off the opponent, and then whipping the blood off the blade and resheathing the sword.
Iaido is very direct and simple but very complicated to do.
