Does anyone have any weblinks to any information on this style or can anyone recommend any good books?

Hi Sharon,
I don't know anything about this style...sorry, I should say 'Ryuha' since people might think we are talking about the Ichikawa kata... {ref from another post}. but I did dig up someth things burried deep in some cross reference google searching:

"Goju Master Sosui Ichikawa, one of the great masters in Japan, although he is little known outside of his native land. Master Ichikawa was a student of the great master Kanki Izumikawa of Kawasaki who in turn learned from Miyagi Chojun's senior student Higo Seko."

here is a link to a dojo with that lineage:
http://www.goju.com.au/
for convienence:
http://www.goju.com.au/shihan/profile.htm

another:
http://www.heikoryu.com.au/history.html

recent news:
"Sensei Sosui Ichikawa 10th Dan, died in his dojo in Japan on 6th March 2005, aged 80 years."

take care, hope I helped.

Sharon,

In 1995 I was fortunate to meet Master Ichikawa for a 'special' teaching in his ramshackle of a dojo; the time is a very memorable one.

I'm not prepared to recount my impressions here but will say that he truly was a 'Master' in the sense of those we read about who first propagated karate in Okinawa. Stepping into his dojo was like stepping back in time and I will always remember it.

Of course I think you have a close link to Ichikawa Goju-Ryu through an acquaintance of Mr Grayston?

Sharon,
I had made a proposition to you in a former post regarding a study of Channan/Pinan but it seems to have been lost in the change over. If you are interested in discussing Ichikawa or anything further please drop me a line I reside in East Sussex.

Wishing good health,

Joel^R^
