Tiger cane, ratan, or bamboo?

in regards to kali sticks, which of the above is preferable? I know that Rattan is a good general purpose material, and that hardwood is far too extreme for regular training (especialy for a newbie), but are there any pro's or cons regarding bamboo and tiger cane in comparison to normal rattan? Many thanks for your input.

I'm not familiar with tiger cane and bamboo would be far too weak for stick work IMHO.
Go with the rattan, its fine for most uses.

Thanks Reiki,
That was my initial instinct, doesn't hurt that it is the least expensive option either

I would stick with rattan escrima. Bamboo escrima tend to be too hard an brittle. As far as "tiger cane", my understanding was it's the same things as a burnt rattan escrima. Rattan escrima are very durable, i've had the same set for a LONG time. Here is a site i found selling "tiger cane" escrima, they list it as being rattan as well. http://www.martial-art-shop.com/

You could try http://bloodsport.com I have heard they are quite reliable.

Hello all I just wanted to add something about bamboo
I have made some pretty strong stick-weapons by boring out the joints of the bambo(so it is completly hollow) then injecting fix-a-flat which is an expanding foam used for...well fixing flat tires
when injected it expands and hardens making a suprisingly hard and strong weapon
well those are my two cents (though some say I am senseless )
regards UB

in response to my initial query, my rattan sticks have just arrived, very nice, am going to run through a few things against some imaginary trolls later For those in the UK I got them from www.blitzsport.com they arrived 35 hours after ordering (by phone) and were pleasant to deal with as a company.
