Weapon Questions

Here are some simple weapon questions to get the forum going.
1. What is your favorite weapon, regardless of your ability to use? 2. What weapon are you best at? 3. What weapon do you wish you were better at? 4. What weapon do you wish to learn? 5. If in a confrontation, what is your weapon of choice?
my answers are: 1. Chain Whip 2. Bo staff, but since I am still a newb, that is pretty much all I have learned. 3. Nunchaku 4. Tonfa, chain whip, and hookswords 5. I would have to go with a short staff for its simplicity and ease of use.
If you have any others, feel free to post them =)

1. What is your favorite weapon, regardless of your ability to use?
NUNCHAKUS
2. What weapon are you best at?
KNIFE
3. What weapon do you wish you were better at?
JO AND NUCHAKUS
4. What weapon do you wish to learn?
SWORD
5. If in a confrontation, what is your weapon of choice?
JO OR ANY BIG LUMP OF WOOD.
I HAVE EDITED THIS BECAUSE I INITIALLY PUT KNIFE, WHICH WOULD STILL BE MY FIRST CHOICE IF STABBING INTRUDERS/ATTACKERS DID NOT HAVE SUCH SERIOUS LEGAL REPRUCUSSION.
OBVIOUSLY I WOULD NOT CARRY A KNIFE, BUT I WOULD PICK ONE UP IN A TRUE LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION (WEAPON OF OPPORTUNITY RATHER THAN CARRYING A LETHAL WEAPON IN UK LAW)

Heck, I'll take a stab at this, even though I have no weapons experience whatsoever. In fact, my knowledge of weapons comes from the internet and magazines.
1. What is your favorite weapon, regardless of your ability to use?
Probably two scimitars. So darn cool.
2. What weapon are you best at?
As of yet, the only thing I even moderately know how to use is a bo staff.
3. What weapon do you wish you were better at?
Hmm, that would require skill in the first place!
4. What weapon do you wish to learn?
Nuchakus.
5. If in a confrontation, what is your weapon of choice?
Roman Gladius. Small, efficient, easy to use. Stabby!

1. Tonfa 2. Tonfa! 3. Nunchaku 4. Katana 5. Speaking from which kobudo weapon I would most like to use in an encounter: Tonfa. Realistically: Tactical folding knife. We can carry them concealed wahoo!

Bloody poms are obsessed with being caught with a gun or a blade - I wouldn't tolerate it guys.
1. Browning Fabrique National FN Five Seven
2. Any staff.
3. Gim, Chinese straightsword
4. Jutte or Toshu Keibo.
5. Short club, you can use as a stick, short staff or a "point of impact" weapon. A blade may be a blade, but a good short club can break bones and has a greater distance.

1> all of them!
2> bo, nunchaku, arnis in that order.
At my last grading the graders said my bo skills were absolutely fantastic!! which was very nice of them. I'm the one that our head instructor usually gets to introduce newcomers to bo work and to polish up the ones that need to get better.
I also get to teach the chucks to the newbies, I am reasonably good with them too.
3> katana - I'm just learning more strikes at the moment and loving it! I'd like to do more work with the sai.
4> tonfa - I have had a play but haven't done much as yet with them and have a kata to learn...
5> any sort of stick, a whip or a bloody big bit of wood like a bo.
Basically anything I can get my hands on will do! Pliers and screwdrivers can be handy too.
I once used a large dog [a german shepherd] as a flail but that's another story..
I don't own any guns other than an air rifle, and I don't particularly like knives other than the useful sort of swiss army knife or leatherman.
I carry a hanbo and a set of arnis sticks behind my seat in the car, and a leatherman and a ninja stick in my handbag.

I sort of like John's answers, but:
1. favorite = sai 2. best at = bo / M16 rifle 3. wish I was better at = escrima & kama 4. wish to learn = tonfa 5. weapon of choice? bo. See "best at". Plus reach.

Damn. I forgot the weapons I'd REALLY like to learn, and that's the walking cane. Sneaky and very effective. Saw a hapkido master abusing two of his students with one in a demo and it was impressive.

1. Favorite Weapon(s): Katana and wakazashi, as wielded by my teacher. I could watch him for hours.
2. Best At: Ma Do (Horse Knife) Big and scary looking, but beautiful as well.
3. Wish I was better at: Bo. I am learning the American Kenpo Staff set, and as coordination isn't my strongest asset, it's tough.
4. Wish to learn: Katana. See #1.
5. Confrontation Weapon: Hopefully not needed, but either Bo or Escrima techniques could be done with something close at hand like a broom handle or stick of firewood.

Probably an Anglo-Scottish basket-hilted broadsword (double-edged) or backsword (single-edged).
2. What weapon are you best at?
French foil, and FMA single stick (solo baston).
3. What weapon do you wish you were better at?
French epee.
4. What weapon do you wish to learn?
The sciabola di terreno, aka the "Radaellian" light dueling saber of the Italian school.
5. If in a confrontation, what is your weapon of choice?
I try to avoid confrontations, but I'd have to say that an ASP telescoping baton would be good, if it was legal to carry around here.
For home self-defense (besides firearms), I think some sort of short sword, equally lethal with both point and edge, would prove most useful--a Roman gladius (as Foolsgold mentioned), a Filipino bolo, etc.
In any case, it's largely a moot point, given the grave legal implications involved with all of the above.

favourite: definitly the dao
best at: probably shinai... bo comes close
wish to be better at: sectional weapons
wish to learn: cane
in a confrontation: ... any weapon held by me could quickly become held by my opponent... then im in **** ... but i'd go the cane... not many would attack an apparently disabled man with a cane.
Originally posted by coxne: Reiki, using a dog as a fail? I'd love to hear that story! =)
I did this while I was teaching dog obediance a few years back, I was working with someones dog that was decidedly "unco-operative" and it picked a fight with another dog nearby.
Having nothing else handy except the dog lead [which was already in my hands], I decided to swing it with the dog attached. The dog got a hell of a shock and stopped fighting immediately.
It was hard to get it going but once its feet were off the ground the centrifugal force helped.
The dog was very quiet after its flail and I found it a lot easier to work as I had proved my dominance over it.
We used to end up with all the dregs that ppl had bought and couldn't control. Large male shepherds and other breeds that were just dominating their owners.

Short staff, bo, chizi kun bo.
2. What weapon are you best at?
Chizi kun bo.
3. What weapon do you wish you were better at?
Bo. I play billiards constantly, and though drinkin' is prohibited in this establishment, that doesn't prevent the drunk from coming in.
4. What weapon do you wish to learn?
Well, I guess the Sai and Tuifa (tonfa). Not so much for practicallity, but to round out the Isshinryu forms.
5. If in a confrontation, what is your weapon of choice?
If a firearm is not handy, my chizi kun bo.
Good stuff.

Never heard of a chizi kun bo. What is it? And since kun = bo, it's kind of repetitive, isn't it?

1. cane 2. bo, throwing knives, archery, knives, kali sticks 3. cane, katana, jo 4. cane, sectioned staff 5. none, unless against multiple opponents I would feel more competent with my hands, if against multiples, a short sword or katana, at least a long bladed weapon of some sort.

1. What is your favorite weapon, regardless of your ability to use? A Tachi in one hand and a Katana in the other. Classical.
2. What weapon are you best at? I'm best with the Tachi(longsword katana).
3. What weapon do you wish you were better at? I would train harder with butterfly swords. Getting both the blades to move smoothly while staying denfesively prepared is a problem of mine with two-handed weapons.
4. What weapon do you wish to learn? I'd love how to learn and master the Naginata, or HALBERD.
5. If in a confrontation, what is your weapon of choice.... oh, my sword of course.
*And to make something clear, all of the people who put guns as their weapons, you are good at shooting long range distances right? I mean, anyone can pull the trigger, it takes true strength and skill to actually make a gun worth merit. That's partially why I disapprove of guns, if it is not marksmanship, then your not wielding a weapon that takes mind, body, and soul to master. Just a thought... You guys all have listed weapons that are illigal to have in your car/person. I have modified several weapons training and put them to use with a basaball bat. I personally like the smaller aluminum bats, (but to each his own)it is just as effective as a short staff minus the criminal record. If you have weapons training then I suggest you try it, you would be suprised how nicely weighted and balenced it is.

A bat used against someone will get you just as much jail time as anything else. ANYTHING that is used as a weapon regardless of it's original purpose is illegal, even a pen. We just had a guy sent to the brig for swinging a pen at one of our officers. Deadly force, escalation of force and the seven reasons for deadly force is something everyone should learn and understand. Just because an item wasn't designed as a weapon doesn't mean your not going to do jail time for using it.
