YAY NEW FORUM!

Welcome everyone to the new weapons forum on fightingarts.com Hopefully, this shall be a valuable resource for those looking for information on any and all martial arts weaponry. This is not limited to just sword arts, but is intended to range from bo staffs to rope darts, and everything in between. So I shall start off with a question.
Does anyone have any sugguestions on how to make a practice chainwhip? I don't want to use a real one yet seeing as I would kill myself. Is there a way to make one out of rope and a tennis ball, until I understand the basic fundamentals of the weapon? Thanks in advance for any suggestions, and have fun with the new forum.

Yay!
As for the whipchain question, I've heard of using lightweight, extra-long utility chain. Kinda like the stuff you use to hang a porch swing.

What are you like working with a normal whip??
I would get really good with this first before trying to use a chain whip.
If you go to a saddlery shop you should be able to buy a synthetic lungeing whip for a few dollars, get good at flicking this and hitting things accurately, then try a bullwhip.
I can use a 15ft bullwhip reasonably well, and as I've used lungeing whips forever I am a really good shot with these in both hands.
I am an expert with a dressage whip which is shorter, sharper and more like a South Africaan sjambok. Quite a nice weapon actually, and one I could easily have in the car.
Haven't tried a chain whip, and not sure where I'd get one from anyway unless I made one!

Well I would practice with a highly flexible whip first before attempting a chain whip.
It looks quite short, and could be rather painful if u hit yourself!
It takes a different skill to use a whip, somewhat similar to nunchaku when you make them go dead.
