Here's a hint; Looking good does not always mean "efective."

Im not even sure what your post is about. Is it a question, a statement, what? Please clarify.

Sorry, I guess it's both. But if it sounds like I'm trying to get answers and secretly DON'T know what it is,
1. I've been taught it
2. It's on the web

Chen, perhaps you know what it is.

I do but whats the point? Do you need technical advice or do you just have a question what?

My motives are obscure, um okay, I just want to know why I never heard of anyone talk about it. I mean granted I never saw it in one of Bruce's movies and not everyone here is a Jeet Kune Do practitioner, I just assume a majority of the people here do practice Jeet Kune Do. So they would know what a straight blast is, perhaps enough to talk about it. Sure, it's not 'stylish' but it works.

Its come up before. Perhaps not in its own thread but in others. You should check the archives. They're a gold mine, or better yet start a thread explaining your thoughts on it. Im sure many people would like to discuss it.

I know what the straight blast is...I practice it...and I assume others are trained in it...but what is your goal in this thread?

The straight blast is cool and all, but I believe that many JKD practitioners (and even more than a few wing chun practitioners) are moving away from the straight blast and are now using the boxing blast as they begin to train more realistically. They are seeing that it has more power than the straight blast and is a "safer" move to throw.

That doesn't mean the straight blast "doesn't work" or can't work. Everything has it's place. I've done the straight blast for years. Now all I do is the boxing blast and I'll never go back. There's no comparison.

I am a little confused.

I can see how you keep moving forward with the straight blast, as your body faces the opponent the whole time, but wouldn't you have to be sideways to make the boxing blast work? Would that not compromise you ability to press forward very far?

Not that I use the straight blast for 10 moves, but I have a hard time dashing sideways.

Perhaps I am unclear on the boxing blast.
