speed comes from fast0twitch muscles and there are ways to develop their speed - plyometrics (clap pushups), as well as doing low rep free weights (max weight u can handle). Of course you must practise the move, but that alone will not increase speed dramaticaly. Also, you must realize that each person's fast t. muscle has their limit, in other words genes. Some people are just born slower, but then you should concentrate on other aspects , because thats martial arts, not evryone can be as fast as Bruce Lee even if you train as hard as he did

oops, I forgot to post my favorite speed exercise. Trap a fly in a small room and keep Punching it out of the air. Pretty fun stuff, lol.

There aren't *Really* genetic limitations, of course not all people are the same, but it's such a minor difference it's not THAT big of one. If you train to be fast, you will get fast reguardless of your genes. People are like 2% different from a monkey, so people compaired to people are practically clones, except for about a .1% difference...you can be fast, no matter who you are.

Referring to speed in fighting, it comes down to hundreths of a second. With that being said perhaps a different approach should be attempted. Maybe improving footwork or timing.
