I don't know, but I would be a wee bit leary of anything with the words "Ranking" and "JKD" on the same page. Maybe its just me, but I think rankings defeat the philosophy of JKD, I mean after all if someone were ranked that would impose certain limitations wouldn't you say?

If you are lucky enough to a school around which you are interested in, go check it out for yourself. Talk to the instructor, have him demonstrate things. He should be able to explain when, where, how and why certain things take place in his curriculum. Use common sense and when you have been convinced, by all means go for it.

Don't be impressed by the instructors speed or strength, because you can't learn these skills.

if you walk into a jkd school,and theres students with belts on,and theres ranking and everything one word........RUUUUUUUUN!

Is it just me or would this be the 'Classical Mess' Bruce Lee was working so hard to avoid.

There are no ranks in JKD. If you ever see a class with colored belts or sashes, run away. There is one black sash that certifies you to teach and that's it.

Bruce Lees top student was inteviewed in Black Belt Mag. He explains the ranking system.

Fact is, Bruce Lee had a ranking system in JKD. He didn't issue "belts" but he did have ranks for his students and instructors.
