While we are on the subject of training at other schools I just wanted to say it's a wierd/strange thing to train at another dojo. For you guys that never had the opportunity to train somewhere else you should try it. Even a seminar will change you outlook a bit. One of the first places that I trained at this summer was a TKD school in Memphis, of course my uniform was not like thiers and I stood out like a sore thumb and all eyes were upon me as if some strange being from outer space had just invaded thier dojo. One thing different I noticed was how much more they Kiai'd than we did, and every answer to the instructor was shouted with a yes mam or yes sir , very millitary. Have to admit the kiai was uplifting, I miss it. After class many of the students wanted to know more about our techniques and self defense, so we trained for another hour and exchanged all we could during the limited time we had. As the night progressed (after three classes) I felt perfectly at home in thier dojo and truly believe they felt the same with me. So many people have thier eyes shut to other style and should get out there and experement a little. Keep your roots but grow branches too.

Nice post "schanne", you'd be more then welcome at our school as well. I like your analogy with roots and branches. Our school has seen others come through and on a couple of occassions we sent some students to a Judo class and they sent some students to our Taekwondo class. It was interesting to see the differences.
