WHat Li Jin says is correct. You must learn to anticipate his move so that you can counter it while he misses and is tryign to regain balance.
What defender says is wrong - you do not want to go in close agaisnt someone bigger and stronger than you - thats jsut stupid. The only time you would do this is in a sport syle (no punching/grappling) tournament where you have the more efficient kicking advantage due to your relativel shorter leg at close range. In tournaments that promote grappling it is also better to be in close against a taller heaver striker, but like i said only under controlled circumstances.
in general you have to understand that you cannot use the same strategy for every opponent. Your opponent may beb igger, shorter, fster , slower and your strategy should adjsut accordingly.
