#130488 - 05/23/04 05:16 AM Once and only once..

One time i was being pushed around by some people in school.. i realized that martial arts is in all of us programed in our brains, to a sertain extent. push a big dog into a corner and it will be scared, push a small dog into a corner and watch true power....

My point is this, for Martial arts people. the one's that use there knowledge for gain on others, there is no pride because, CARE AND EMOTION, is bigger then strengh & power.
in respect, if a martial arts trained person( un trained, if there want to fight an inocent person), i will TRY! to distroy him/her, do you think thats fair. My style of fighting is called explosive action. wich means if in a fight you use your body, teeth, hands, knee's, everything posible and distroy them..... if its a street fight that is (defending your loved ones)..would that be justified in a martial arts style traning???? i'm unclear cheers

It's called the "Flight or Fight response" and all humans are hard-wired for it.

A good Martial Artist recognizes it, and channels his/her reactions according to their style and training.

I don't know of any martial art that officially condones "using their knowledge for gain on others," other than gaining freedom from an attack.

I don't think it's necessary to "distroy" someone, to me it shows a lack of control over your own mind. Stopping the attack for good (he's not getting up and still coming after me) and getting away seems enough to me.

I got nothing to say.

thank god for that....!
It's better to say nothing and be thought a fool than say something and confirm our suspicions...

Sometimes you don't need to hurt people just control them.

Reen there are many untraditional Arts that would use your natural responses to win a fight. Krav Maga translates to contact combat. We used our reflexes to bring down an opponent in a real life situation. 3 on 1 weapon drills and such. Mayber not the biting part but speed and tenacity. I guess if you take someone down you can bite if you want but that is just kinda creepy. If it is a fight to the death then hell bite the guy. Saving Private Ryan Style.

Why is it that it's always the ones who have never taken martial arts that say or act like they no best; talking about how it doesn't work. We've all been in the position where we've taken no martial arts, so we can all speak of that behalf. However, only very few of us have actually taken martial arts, so the martial artist is the best person to say whether or noth martial arts works in a street fight; because they've experienced both sides. Some martial arts have been around for thousands of years, within some of those years don't you think people have worked on an effective self defence system? Others have studied martial arts for up to 60 years, nodoby study's for that long so that they WONT no how to defend themselfs

I beg to differ on one point.

Some people have indeed been in MA their entire lives, almost since they could walk. So to play the Devil's Advocate, not EVERYBODY has been on both sides.

THANK YOU Fooldgold for pointing out the flaw in GojuR's statement. Allow me to re-fraise it for him to suit YOU better; "with the exception of that ONE percent who are in martial arts since they are born, everyone knows what it feels like to not be trained in martial arts..."
Better Foolsgold? I guess we should thank our lucky stars that we have people like you to keep this crazy world just a little less crazy!
