This book was great. A must have for the library at home. It is insightful and gives inspiration as well. What did others think?

It is the first MA type book I ever bought. Joe Hyams did a wonderful job and it has been around for a while. My copy is dog-eared and well worn.

What you said has happened to me many times over the years. Some of the most highly regarded books on my shelf I picked up and put down several times before something in them finally struck a chord.

Excellent book! For a while there (right after I read it the first time) I would share little sections of it with the Karate class I teach -- very useful stuff.

This thread makes me want to go back and revisit "Zen in the Martial Arts" -- think I will.

One thing I especially like is the book's accessibility -- you don't have to be a Zen master to grasp it, us mere mortals can get a lot from reading it.
